Lots of Socks

'Lots of Socks' day - 21st March 2013
Down Syndrome International invited everyone across the world to wear LOTS OF SOCKS on 21 March 2013 to raise awareness on World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD).
Jondaryan State School supported ‘Lots of Socks’ day with students and staff turning up to school wearing a variety of different coloured and miss matched socks.  We also had a special pizza lunch day to make this day stand out from other school days.
There is estimated to be up to 7 million people who have Down syndrome living worldwide.  Down syndrome is a life-long genetic condition from conception caused by the presence of an extra chromosome in a baby's cells. All people with Down syndrome will have some degree of learning disability but many will go on to lead full and semi-independent lives.
