Jondaryan Students Get Active

20/10/2015
Swimming lessons at the Glennie Aquatic Centre
At Jondaryan State School we aim to give the students a board range of experiences, including participating in various sporting events. Our involvement in school sporting carnivals not only helps develop our student’s knowledge and understanding of a variety of sports, but also encourages them to make new friends.
Students from Jondaryan State School recently participated in two end of term  sports carnivals.
On Thursday 17th September, students from years 3 – 6 travelled to Quinalow State School to participate in the netball and soccer carnival.
Holly, Abbie and Jorja reported the following on their Netball experience: We played six games and we won five of them.  It was a sunny day for most of the day.  We all worked as a team and succeeded. We each had time to rest for half of the game.
On Friday 18th September the year 4 – 6 students ended the term by travelling to Dalby to take part in a small school touch football fun day, which was being held at the PCYC Touch football fields.
Here’s what some of our students had to say about their day:
On Friday the 18th of September 4-6’s went to Dalby to play Touch Football.  We split into groups with different schools.  We played about 6 or 7 games and it was very tiring.  It was fun playing with other schools in our team.  It was a really fun day. Emily & Libby
At Touch Football we got into teams with coloured bibs.Nic, Josh and Dylan were in the same team.  Libby and Emily were on the opposite team.  Straight after we got in our coloured bibs we got straight into games against schools that were there.  We versed Kaimkillenbun, Quinalow, Bell and Bowenville.  All up it was a great day. By Nic, Josh and Dylan.

This term students are attending swimming lessons at the Glennie Aquatic Centre in Toowoomba.  On Tuesday 3rd November the students will have the opportunity to utilise the swimming skills they have learned by participating in a mini swimming carnival.  Students in the upper school that achieve well will have the opportunity participate in the district swimming carnival early in 2016.
